Allergy

Allergies are becoming increasingly common in Australia. According to the Australian Society of clinical Immunology and Allergy, one in three people will suffer from an allergy at one point in their life.

Allergies can present in many ways, taking on many forms and cause a wide variety of symptoms from itchy skin, watery eyes, runny nose, sneezing, hives, swelling, lung and digestive complaints.

Allergies occur when the immune system reacts to something in our external or internal environment, causing damage to tissue as it tries to fight off the threat, which should otherwise be harmless to the body. Substances that may cause reactions known as allergens may include animal dander, pollen, grasses, dust mites, food, moulds, insects and some medicines.

By supporting immune responses, regulating cortisol levels, supporting body systems, identifying the allergen and minimising or stopping symptoms can be very effective in treating allergic reactions. Jane also provides different pathology testing to help identifying the allergen (see Naturopathic testing).
